TSC honors outgoing school board member

“The school board and the TSC are in good hands.” That’s the sentiment outgoing school board member Brian Defreese shared during his final board meeting on December 11. Board President Josh Loggins presented Defreese with a plaque in recognition of his 12 years of service and dedication to the school district.

Defreese has represented District 6, which includes Wayne and Union Townships since January 2013, and chose not to seek reelection. Reflecting on his tenure, he expressed pride in his contributions, particularly his support of the InSideOut initiative in athletics. “The program highlights the positive influence coaches can have on students,” says Defreese. “One of the most memorable moments is being a part of commencement ceremonies and watching graduates cross the stage to receive their diplomas.”

Defreese is the manager of the Purdue University Animal Science Research and Education Center’s Bovine Unit. A graduate of Southwestern High School and Purdue University, he has seen three of his children graduate from TSC schools and now enjoys spending time with his six grandchildren.

Retired teacher Connie Harper will succeed Defreese as the District 6 representative. She is set to be sworn into office in January.
